E/S BY YOURSELF GANGSTER CRIP
The East Side By Yourself Gangster Crip (ESBYGC) is a predominately African American gang hailing from East Los Angeles, in particular, the Faircrest Heights. They were formally addressed as the By Yourself Hustlers, but due to the overwhelming presence of the Gangster Crips, they dropped their Hustler card and their youngest generation turned Trays (3x). The eldest gang members, still flaunt their Hustler affiliation.
Birthed in the late 1970's, early 1980's, originally not a crip gang, they formed as the By Yourself Hustlers in its earliest notion, a get money clique primarily. Peddling petty amounts of dope throughout East LA, they made a name for themselves. Although they're friendly with Hustler sets, they've aligned themselves with the Gangster Crip card for obvious reasons. Being surrounded by neighboring gangster crip gangs, they made the smart choice to convert. Similar to how Mansfield Hustlers became Mansfield Gangster Crip.
The Founding Fathers of BYG would be none other than Laron Mann & Gerald Blatche, honorable figures of the East Side that led the dope game in the early '80s. Laron Mann, Originally a Black Panther from the East Los Angeles Chapter was involved heavily in the movement. As a helping hand during the Free Breakfast Program and other charitable programs, played a key part in the drug trafficking business as it hit Los Angeles. Gerald Blatche was actually mentored by Laron once upon a time. Laron and Gerald highhandedly held their neighborhood together during the LA Riots, as well as playing key members in the reconstruction of the black community.
Following the early 2000's, their long-time feud with a local blood set that went by the name E/S Bust First Bloods began. Starting from a house party dispute that led to the death of G-Dogg a.k.a Gerald Blatche, a reputable By Yourself Gangster Crip leader and BF-Tone from Bust First Bloods. On the opposite side of the field, they were being oppressed by local piru and blood sets. This amplified their hatred for bloods. It led them to push the 'BK' mantra. A few weeks after the deaths from both sides, Bust First Bloods retaliated alongside Bloodstone Villians. Unfortunately this led to the death of 6-year-old Tanisha Walker by a stray bullet that penetrated the side window of a house during this retaliation drive-by. This only added fire to the flames of the war.
Making East LA a known gang hotbed, the crime kept rising into the early 2010's with social media amplifying gang violence.
They remain a tight-knit gang, smaller in numbers compared to others but should never be counted out, as they've proven their allegiance to the streets. Present day membership showcase their ties by wearing Boston Red Sox & Texas Rangers hats. The self proclaimed Selfish Gang still rule Faircrest Heights with an iron fist, they still continue to feud with Neighborhood Crips & neighboring Blood gangs. Their presence remains in East Los Angeles.
